A lifelong competitor — from the mat to the track
David Rothrock's competitive drive started young. In high school he played football and wrestled, placing 4th at state on the wrestling mat — an early lesson in the discipline and grit that would define everything that came next.
That same fire carried him to motorsports, where David competed as a professional race car driver, going wheel-to-wheel with the region's best on the oval. Today, that performance-under-pressure mindset fuels his work as an entrepreneur, investor, and real estate owner — bringing discipline, negotiation, and a builder's eye for long-term value.
A hard-charging night at the oval
Colorado Speedway coverage called out David Rothrock's red #88 Camaro as a serious threat up front, noting that he stayed on Jeff Walbaum's tail throughout the event and briefly grabbed the lead after a late caution before finishing close behind.
The two leaders hit lapped traffic, and that's when Walbaum began to put a little distance on Rothrock. The hard charger of the night was clearly Nick Brinlee (#99), who started way back in 11th yet worked his way into the top five to challenge Paul Deines (#17) and Chad Cowen (#76).
When the checkered flag flew, Walbaum grabbed the win with Rothrock close behind. A post-race tech infraction sent Rothrock back to 5th. Last year's champion Paul Deines was awarded 2nd, with Brinlee 3rd and Cowen 4th — Rothrock in 5th, and an impressive run for Emilio Abeyta (#75) taking 6th.
